The boys soccer team is headed to the 6A Region II playoffs after defeating Mckinney Boyd, April 5.  The game-winning penalty kick was scored by right forward Isaac Hulk.

Two busloads of fans are making the trip to Round Rock to cheer on the Mustangs in Friday’s playoff game in against Aldine.  Sachse is currently ranked 80th in the state compared to Aldine at 417th.

The team has been working hard all season for this moment.

“Preparation for games consists of a half week of the weight room and half a week of running miles,” senior Jake Duvault said. “In between that, we play scrimmages to help our overall fitness.”

Being in better shape than opponents has been a key advantage throughout the season.

“It’s important that we have guys who are intense when dribbling, passing and also being good at thinking on their feet,” Duvault said.

The winner of Friday’s game will play again Saturday in the Regional Finals against the winner of the Allen vs. College Park game.
