The Mustang men’s basketball team is currently 4-3 after defeating North Mesquite, Arlington, Wylie East, and most recently Mesquite Poteet with a crushing 104-58 win.

The most recent game for the Mustangs was a 73-45 loss to Rockwall. The Mustangs were able to hang with the Yellow Jackets for the first quarter but were outscored 43-18 in the second and third quarters.

“We played a little sloppy and just didn’t play good enough defense,” junior Kojo Sekeyere said. “They scored at will, and we have got to be better on that side of the ball.”

The Mustangs have already had a challenging season so far with two weeks of cancelations due to COVID-19. Coming out of quarantine, they had one day back in practice before they played Wylie East.

“I missed being on the court,” senior Ethan Dunnam said. “It’s hard to just stop randomly and then have to start right up again, but we all stayed working at home. Hopefully we can stay healthy through the season and go deep in the playoffs.”

Their next two contests will be an away game Friday, Dec.18, against Dallas Jesuit and a home game Tuesday, Dec.22, against North Garland to kick off district play.
