Don’t you love the smell of baking? It’s sweet and soft and it just flows freely around the house and it just makes the house feel warm and welcome. Well, that’s how much of an effect the baking of cookies can have throughout the house. What is your first thought when smelling cookies? Do they make you feel a certain way, good or bad? If you bake, do you find joy in making cookies?
Like mentioned, cookies can have a big effect but others can take the smell differently or prefer a certain flavor of cookies. According to a student at Sachse High they are the kind of person that enjoys any smell or flavor of cookies, they truly find joy in the baking and eating of cookies. Another student that goes to Sachse High claims that they prefer the scent and taste of a certain flavor of cookies and explained that this is because they end up losing their appetite when smelling any other kind of cookie flavor, or they just don’t enjoy smelling overly sweet scents and that this because their nose is very sensitive to certain smells or possible strong smells.
As mentioned, people may only enjoy the smell of a certain cookie, people can also have a favorite kind of cookie or their “signature cookie”. As I interviewed and I asked this question to a student at Sachse High, they responded with “Macadamia Cookies” I asked for their reason behind this cookie and how it became their signature cookie and they responded with “They are enjoyable because of their perfect balance of sweet, savory, creamy, sweet white chocolate with buttery and salty roasted macadamia nuts.” It made me want to try them at that exact moment! It was very pleasing to hear everyone’s favorite or signature cookies.
There are many people in the world who stress eat, cookies can be one of the foods that they use for stress eating. Have you wondered why cookies are one of the ultimate “comfort foods” in times of stress? This is because cookies with high sugar and fat content triggers the brain’s reward system, releasing “feel good” dopamine to boost mood and reduce stress. From the ‘feel-good’ dopamine release to the comforting smells that fills a home, cookies are more than just a sweet treat; they are a universal source of happiness and warmth.
Ultimately, whether you prefer classic chocolate chip cookies or a unique macadamia nut, the simple cookie holds a powerful place in our lives, bringing warmth, comfort, and a touch of joy to people everywhere!
