All-year-round schools is an arrangement where students go to school all year with breaks distributed throughout the year, instead of one long summer. Some say that this can benefit students and help them learn while some may say that it can cause problems for families. Year-round-school can be beneficial or can cause problems that can affect their education, mental health, and family life.
An advantage can be that students can easily remember what they were taught before going on each break. When there is a summer break, students can forget what they learned from 2 months ago. But when there are shorter breaks during the school year, students have a better opportunity to remember. Another thing is that teachers and students can get more breaks distributed throughout the year and they won’t be burned out.
But, some disadvantages can be that families can have trouble planning vacations because of the school’s system. Parents can also struggle with time with their kids during the breaks throughout the year if they work during the day. Students that have an interest in summer jobs and activities may have a hard time because of school taking up their time.
Year-round-schools have both positive and negative outcomes. It can enhance learning while lowering student and teacher stress. But it can produce problems like planning a vacation. Having year-round-school can benefit students and teachers but you have to think about the impacts it can and will have on your personal life.
