Nap time is something that is very loved by people of all ages. Ranging from infants to older adults. People take naps when they are tired, stress management, or just trying to get through the day. Naps can be taken anytime throughout the day, but now, the real question is, how can naps actually make you feel?
Naps should not be taken for more than an hour or two. When you sleep for that long, it can cause sleep inertia making you go into deep sleep, causing grogginess and making you feel worse than before sleeping because you are disrupting your deep sleep. This isn’t to happen before the disruption leading you to having a disoriented feeling.
If you sleep for too long it can affect what time you sleep at night. Sleeping for an hour wouldn’t really make a difference, but when it’s like 3-4, it will cause you to sleep later than usual. This can potentially mess up your sleep schedule, causing you to be tired in the day and restless at night. A one hour nap can be like a power-nap, giving you extra rest time instead of shifting your sleep schedule.
Naps can be helpful only if it is done correctly. Naps can help with energy and going through the day, but if it gets too much like 2-3+ hours, it can backfire like grogginess and confusion. Having short naps like 1-2 hours can get you benefits. Overall, naps are nice, but to an extent.
