Slime has been popular since around 2015 and becoming more entertaining among kids and teenagers from homemade to store bought slime.  A reason why it got so popular around 2015 is mostly because of nickelodeon’s kids choice awards where the winners would get slime.

One major reason why slime is becoming more popular is because of Tiktok and Youtube. Suddenly, people want to revisit their childhood and play with items they played with when they were younger.  The process of making slime is a huge childhood memory for most teenagers.

Slime is also popular because many people find it relaxing. Some people see slime as a calming activity such as ASMR. ASMR plays a big factor as they use slime as most of the noise. Rant videos have also spiked to the top videos as they say a take and either talk about topics. They have the background video as a slime video taken from aesthetic Youtube videos. These videos consist of putting many fun things in slime, such as color themes, nail polish and other fun objects,
