Everyone loves the flower blossoms, good weather, the break from school and the aesthetic of spring.
Spring is one of the best times to go to Japan with the cherry blossom trees blooming, spring Starbucks flavors and perfect weather. March and April are when the Japanese cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Japan’s average weather during the spring is 50-77F with a low humidity which is great since japans winters are pretty cold with snow and japans summers are extremely humid and has a high heat stroke rate. The Japanese celebration of Hinamtsuri is also on March 3rd during the start of spring.
Many students i have asked said “ my favorite part of spring is the flowers and nature blossoming”
The Japanese cherry blossoms are a beautiful part of Japan. The spring time is the perfect time to see the cheery blossom trees with them being in bloom from late March to early to mid August. The Takada castle in Niigata is a beautiful spot to visit if you want to see the cherry blossoms. There stands an Edo period flat land style castle and around is a lake lined with beautiful blossoming pink cherry blossoms.
In relation to cherry blossoms, Starbucks also takes the spring time into consideration, usually with special cherry blossom drinks. For the spring of 2026 Starbucks Japan has released 3 drinks: a Frapechino, soda and latte. A Sakura bloom white peach frappuccino with jellies, a warm milky Sakura bloom white peach latte and a fizzy Sakura bloom white peach soda.
When asked around, many teachers said “ my favorite part of spring is the mild weather.”
Spring in Japan also has very mild and calm weather. During the summer Japan’s average high is 80-90 degrees fahrenheit with extremely humid conditions and a high heat stroke rate. Japan during the winter has an average of 35-50 degrees fahrenheit and in extremely snowy areas has an average of 300-600 inches of snow. But during the spring the temperature is 50-77 degrees fahrenheit with low humidity which is perfect for the large amount of walking that is needed in Japan.
On March 3rd there is a Japanese celebration called Hinamatsuri, also known as the Peach festival, which I grew up celebrating. The celebration is to pray for the happiness, health and prosperity of the young girls in the family. Families or temples set up Hina dolls on red multitried platforms. This celebration originated during the Heian period (794-1185) and was more refined during the Edo period (1603-1885). This is a great time to look at elaborate and beautiful Hina doll set ups at temples and appreciate the young girls in your family and life.
