The new Spongebob movie about Spongebob traveling the sea to prove his bravery to Mr Krabs. He explores the ocean with the flying Dutch man facing monsters to ultimately show what it means to be a hero.

 The movie opens up to Spongebob growing an inch and everyone starts referring to him as “big guy” this is where the controversy starts. In the start of the movie a popular rap artist Ice spice plays the song big guy. People think it’s weird that they have a known inappropriate rapper to play their song in a child centered cartoon. In the article ayalabulldogtimes.org it says  “Many argue that there is no appropriate place for Ice Spice to be in a kid’s movie, given the variety of songs she has produced that are far from family-friendly. ” Not only that but for the premier of the movie ice spice wore a revealing outfit, which added to the controversy of the movie. 

They also have weird marketing for a kids movie. People think that the billboard for the new Spongebob movie was suggestive and not right for a young audience. Movie critics say that the movie has no plot. It’s also said that it has weak writing and the sense of humor being too adult. 

They think that the movie should have had more of the main characters in the movie instead of just Spongebob and Patrick. A few of those characters that people were mad about are Squidward and Sandy and that they were more like background characters in the movie which people weren’t happy about. They were also mad that some of the characters weren’t even in the movie at all like pearl and Karen.
