Lunch is the most important meal of the day; lunch gives you energy to continue working. Students need to eat at school, but is the cafeteria providing the best it can? I decided to head to the lunch line after eight years of bringing my own lunch.

The first thing I tried was the cheeseburger with fries. Both the burger and fries had a weird aftertaste. The second thing I tried was pepperoni pizza and a garlic breadstick. The pizza was very greasy, it had small orange puddles on the slice. The pizza also lacked sauce in some areas. The breadstick was soft and a bit chewy. The last thing I tried was a grilled cheese with beef chili. The chili had lots of flavor but the grilled cheese was very basic. I was not able to try food from the Salsa Street lunch line in the annex.
There are many different lunch lines to go to in the cafeteria. In the Salsa Street line, you can build your own burritos, nachos, and salads. The American Grill line has different burgers and sandwiches. The Little Italy line has pizza, pastas, and other vegetables. The Homemade line has different foods everyday which includes: salad, macaroni and cheese, chicken, and fruits.

The floors of the cafeteria usually have cucumbers, baby carrots, or other small food pieces scattered around. Some kids have learned how to shoot carrots at each other, which adds to the problem.
School lunch is about two to three dollars. This is affordable for most kids so it’s easy for them to get food. Prices vary by which line you go to. You can also get food from the vending machines around the cafeteria.
