The constant fights over the dumbest things, who gets the bigger piece , who’s the favorite kid and why you keep stealing my clothes or why I steal yours. Although this might sound annoying to some people and I’m not going to lie sometimes it can be but I love every single second of it because I know one day we’ll be laughing about this and wishing we could go back. When you ask people about how they met their best friend they have all different types of stories like for example school, camp, family friends or mutual friends etc. However the best kind is your built-in best friend , your sister or sisters if you’re even more lucky.
“My sister was the one person who told me not to change , that my skin was beautiful. She really helped me feel good about myself.” – Khoudia Diop.
Not only has your sister watched you grow up and go through rough times , but she was the person helping you get through them . Whether that meant playing your favorite game to distract you , watching the movie that you’ve forced her to watch a 100 times growing up or just simply being around her . Being around your sister is a “ if you know you know” type of feeling. It’s so hard to put into words the warmth and love that you feel no matter if it’s been one day or one year since you’ve seen them .
“Side by side or miles apart, we’ll always be connected by heart. “ – Picsart.
Personally I am a youngest child and I have two older sisters which I love but there are some times when it’s not so great. On the positive side I have two sisters who have helped me in any and every situation because they’ve already gone through it themselves. However as the youngest I’ve had to watch them grow up and leave the house to move on to newer things. Which comes with a bittersweet feeling on one hand, I’m so proud of them and the people they’ve become and get to cheer them on from the sidelines. But on the other hand I’m watching my childhood pack up and leave. Yes I’m still in the same house but it doesn’t have the same laughter and feeling it had in the past . I can’t help but just reminisce on our childhood photos that have so many memories all fit into one single picture frame , and now I’m in my room watching my sisters grow up from instagram photos .
“Sisters are like branches of a tree. We grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.”. – Facebook.
Sisters share many things like for example you guys might share an eye color, a hair color, a hobby and a last name . But there will come a day in the future when you watch your sisters walk down the aisle and start a new family with a new last name . Suddenly the people in your life won’t know that you’re sisters unless you say it , they won’t even know you’re related. All of a sudden you’ll miss all the things that used to annoy you like all your teachers who have had your siblings already having an impression of you because they saw and recognized the last name. But then you realize it’s not the name itself that is so important it’s the memories that were made when you guys shared that name. Those memories aren’t gonna go away just because someone got married or someone moved further away , they will always be with you .
