Fortnite Season 6 was released on Sept. 27 and had Fortnite fans on the edge of their couches, full of excitement and raving for the addition of new skins along with improved and expanded gameplay.

New gameplay includes natural disasters such as volcano eruptions, tsunamis, hurricanes and tornadoes proving it’s going to be a battle of the elements. All of the natural disasters are involved in the actual playing field meaning if someone escapes the “Electric Storm” they are still in danger of the environment. The games are much faster and more action packed.

Another edition to the game is the “gifting system.” Players are now able to give skins, emotes, pickaxes, gliders and other items to whoever is on their epic friends list. This is a great chance for professional, influential gamers to show some love to their supporters.

Since season 6 of Fortnite was released right before October, they chose to make it a Halloween theme. The seven new skins include Calamity, DJ Yonder, Giddy-Up, Fable, Dusk, Nightshade and Dire.

“Fortnite is definitely going in the right direction,” senior Avery Anderson said. “The SCAR has really made a comeback because of the disappearance of a few much liked weapons.”

There also have been some more editions to weekly shop. The Lead Sled Hammer is a fast swinging hammer that gains speed with each hit. Another addition to the list of weapons is The Obliterator.

According to statista.com Fortnite is already the world’s most popular game, and it looks like it will continue to grow in popularity. It appeals to players in a wide age range from 18 to 54 and players from all around the world.

“Fortnite is straight man, they’re doing just fine,” senior Torey Washington said. “They are never going to die because they keep on evolving the game, especially with the new cross-play feature that they have added. Now every type of gamer can play together.”
