The Mustangs secured their first win of the season against the Wylie Pirates on Friday, September 21, at Williams Stadium.

The final score was 43-27 in a come from behind win. Sachse heavily utilized their running game with 47 rushing attempts for 280 yards and scoring four rushing touchdowns. Senior Torey Washington scored the longest rushing touchdown–65 yards, blowing past defenders with ease.

The Mustangs struggled in the first quarter as the Pirates were up by 14 points. In the second quarter, the Mustangs answered back by beating the Pirates by one point ending the first half with a score of 15-14.

Sachse dominated the second half with an additional 28 points. The Pirate’s offense certainly made the win easier throwing three interceptions.  Senior Hunter Spears scored a touchdown from one of the interceptions.

The Mustang offensive line effectively created gaps and opened lanes for the running plays and effectively protected the quarterback only allowing a few sacks.

This district win for the Mustangs came down to consistency on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball and the drive to win.

“Getting our first win makes me feel like we’re going to be successful going deeper into district,” Washington said.
