Every student at school has that one non-negotiable thing that they have to bring to school everyday no matter what, whether it’s for school related reasons or personal causes. While some students may have their backpacks packed like mini convenience stores others keep it simple with just the so-called ¨essentials¨. ¨I honestly cannot get through the school day without my essentials bag,¨ says junior Omar Abushanab. Either way, what we carry says a lot about how we handle school and get through the day.

¨My airpods and chargers are non-negotiable and I cannot get through the school day without them,¨ says sophomore Rahaf Faris. ¨I need music to get through the day and my phone always loses charge quick.¨ A majority of students at Sachse High School feel the same way, they cannot seem to get through the day without these items. They refer to their technologies such as their phones as not just a source of entertainment but as their planners, alarms, music source, and sometimes even their textbooks.

However some students keep it incredibly simple and practical. ¨I always make sure to keep a notebook, pens, and an eraser,¨ says junior Abdal Abushanab. He and some other students keep the bare essentials in their bags and don’t bring any extra doodads to entertain them throughout the day. They keep their backpacks light and clean because they just want to get through the day.

Everyone’s backpacks contain different things or essentials however each one tells a different story. What a student packs can say alot about their personalities and their personas during school.
