School lunch has had a long-lasting reputation among students, whether it be of high quality or of low-grade food, it plays a very essential role in school environment and culture. The majority of students have various opinions about the school lunch, with some students absolutely loving it and demolishing it while others have held a strong dislike to the cuisine provided. After interviewing some students it was revealed that the most favored school lunch among the various other meals provided is the American Food line which consists of Chicken Tenders, Chicken Sandwiches, Burgers, and fries! ¨It’s crispy and has actual flavor,¨ said sophomore Marwa A.

Another solid contender that seems to be competing for the American Food Line spot is the Homestyle line which gives different options depending on the day of the week. ¨My favorite day is Wednesday because it’s wing day in the Homestyle Line,¨ said sophomore Devin D. The Wing Line consists of boneless wings, bone-in wings, a dinner roll, and fries which seems to be an absolute fan favorite among groups of students. As previously mentioned the Homestyle line offers different foods depending on the weekday. On Mondays they serve chicken drumsticks with a side of buttered mashed potatoes and a moist biscuit. On other days such as Tuesdays or Thursdays they serve food similar to an Italian cuisine with meals such as Pasta, Macaroni & Cheese, and breadsticks. 

Now, not everyone in the school enjoys school lunch, some students even compare it to the horrid meals that are served in a jail or prison. A lot of times school lunch can be extremely stale or even cold, some students report biting into a frozen breadstick immediately making them nauseous. ¨School lunch absolutely disgusts me which is why I always make sure to bring lunch from home because it is always fresh and nutritious,¨ said junior Amsi O. Some students believe the school should offer more customized options to accommodate all students and make meals more appealing. Other students suggest for the school to send out surveys to help the cafeteria people understand what the student population likes.
