Background:  Violet, a widowed mother who goes to a fancy restaurant to meet Henry, her handsome date. Her evening is soon ruined when it turns into a living nightmare when someone texts her saying she has to kill her date or they will kill her son and sister. Now violent has to find out who is texting her and save her son and sister before they kill her.  drop is a thriller movie which was released april 11th 2025 and has the director of christopher landon its an hour and 40 minutes.

Plot: The movie starts off with a woman named Violet who just started going on dating apps after her ex husband who severely verbally and physically mistreated her passed away. As violet leaves to go on a date at a fancy restaurant. She leaves her son Toby with her sister Jen at home. When she first gets to the restaurant she accidentally runs into a random man who picks up her phone after it falls and gives it back to her. She then meets this quirky guy named Richard who said he’s there waiting for his blind date and is really nice to her. Her date finally arrives and his name is henry and he’s a photographer during their date she starts receiving these random airdrops photos telling her to not ignore them and she actually tells henry about them so they both scan the room and try to figure out who its from and they both decide it’s probably from the teens across the room. 

The airdrop continues to escalate and tells Violet to check her security cameras at her house. When she checks them she sees a masked man holding a weapon in her home and it escalates to the man attacking her sister jen who is watching toby until she’s unconscious and then the man locking her son toby in a room.henry notices that violet is acting weird so he asks her if she still getting the airdrops, but violet tells him that it all stopped because she receives a message on airdrop that if she tells anyone anything then her soon will die.violet then realizes that she’s being watched through secret security cameras because the airdrop person knows everything that she’s doing. The airdrop person tells her she must obey their every command in demand that she destroys the sd card in henrys camera bag. 

By lying about needing to use the restroom and asking Henry to get things for her at the restaurant she ends up being able to destroy his sd card, but not without looking at what is on his camera first. Violent discovers that Henry must work for the city mayor because she sees photos of embezzlement from the city mayor on his camera. Henry is tired of violent acts and kind of neglecting him so he attempts to leave. Henry is about to leave because he’s tired of being neglected and ignored on his date. 

But then violet gets him to stay by kissing him and opens up about her past traumatic relationship. Violet is then told by the airdrop person that there is a bottle of poison in the bathroom that she must get and give to Henry by the end of the night. Violet begins to grow suspicious of the man who she ran into at the beginning of the date, who accidently made her drop her phone but the guy tells her he has no idea what she’s talking about and she can’t prove anything to him. Violet then secretly writes a note on a dollar bill that she has someone slip to the piano man as a tip but as she watches the piano man read the note and then discreetly try to get help for her. Phil collapses on the ground as if he’s also been poisoned. 

Violet is then informed by the airdrop person that she must hurry up and kill Henry or else they’re going to kill her son and sister. So she orders some drinks and secretly puts the poison inside of Henry’s drink, but right as he’s about to drink it, she panics and “accidentally” spills her drink on him so that he doesn’t end up drinking his drink. As Henry leaves to go to the bathroom to clean himself up. The bartender goes up to violet and asks how her date is going and after violet tells her that is going bad she laughs and says that a guy at the other table also had a bad date and he’s been staring at violet all night. This alarm violet because she knows whoever has been airdropping her stuff has been spying on her, so she goes to look at the man that she’s talking about and it turns out to be the quirky guy named richard that she met at the beginning of the night as she was waiting for henry.

 Violet goes up to Richard to confront him saying that she knows that it’s him who’s been tormenting her and he reveals that he’s on the mayor’s payroll and he personally will kill Henry by the end of the night if violet doesn’t do so. Because he already has video surveillance footage of violet putting something in henrys drink so that he can just frame violet as the one who did it, he also said that the police will easily believe that violet was the one who did it because violet already has a track record of a husband who died because he thinks violet did it to him. But in reality violet ex husband actually did it to himself so he got that wrong.henry then arrives out of the bathroom and sees violet sitting next to richard and joins them suspiciously and they both urge henry to drink on the table he avoided earlier so that he can finally die.

right after henry drinks it, richard starts eating the panna cotta dessert that’s been sitting on his

table for a while and that’s when violet looks at him and tells him that she actually used the substance top inside of his dessert and pretended to put it into henry’s drink when she actually didn’t. Richard is furious and attempts to shoot at violet, but Henry steps in front of violet to save her and he gets hit instead. A huge fight breaks out in the restaurant and the bartender gets injured and Richard orders the masked man over the phone to kill violet son Toby and her sister Jen back at the house. During the fight at the high rise restaurant the windows break and richard accidentally falls out and dies, and also violet falls out but grabs onto a piece of fabric at the last second, then henry uses to pull up and save her with his last bit of strength.

 Violet then promises to get help for all of them and leaves in Henry’s car to go back to her house to save her family. Her sister Jen ends up fighting off the masked man in order to protect the son Toby and she accidently gets shot in the process. Violet begins fighting with the man but right as he is about to overpower her, her son Toby secretly uses a remote control to drive a weapon onto one of his toy cars to violet so that she can use it to kill the man. Violet finally uses the weapon to kill him.fast forward later we see violet visiting henry in the hospital. While he’s recovering they seem like they’re falling in love and her sister jen is also there recovering from her injuries, but she jokingly sends a creepy airdrop to violet and violet starts freaking out and jen says too soon? And we find out that the mayor has been exposed for his crimes. The end 

Review:when i first went to watch it i didn’t have very high hopes i thought it was going to be some cheesy movie and that i was going to regret watching it. But the movie was actually really good. I usually don’t like whodunit movies but drop was actually one of the best whodunit movies I have watched in a while. It  was really fast paced which was really good because I don’t like movies that are slow. It was also really suspenseful because the movie always kept you on your feet and it was a really funny movie. I found myself laughing at the movie a lot because it was a really funny movie.
