Tariffs, a huge price being added on imported goods that are as of right now, being imported from Chinese countries. Now, why would the U.S president do this if most products are made in China? Well, the answer to that is, Trump wants to ¨punish¨ the other countries to push an economic agenda. These tariffs are also being placed so that imported goods from China are more expensive so people buy products from the U.S instead of Chinese countries, which is known as ¨domestic products¨. These tariffs are also an attempt to build economic trade balance between the countries.
How much will the tariffs affect our Chinese goods? Well, the tariff percentage placed by current U.S President, Donald Trump, decided to take action and place a 145% tariff on all Chinese goods imported to the U.S.
Many companies are struggling to lure in consumers as the prices of their products rise. One of these companies being the very popular apparel brand, SHEIN and popular Chinese-like-Amazon website, TEMU.
Both TEMU and SHEIN had a very cheap history behind their company. On SHEIN for example, two pants and two shirts would cost you about twenty bucks. Now, due to the tariffs these companies are reaching the extreme increase in price raise, the highest being 300%. With the Trump administration tariffs being in affect as of now, two shirts and two pants will cost you 40-50 bucks. SHEIN has even included a statement when you go to checkout that says ¨Tariffs are included in the price you pay, you will never have to pay extra at delivery¨.
Many Americans have become heated due to the rise in Chinese products prices. Every single day. Prices are rising. This doesn’t just include clothing this includes car parts, food, ect that are going to raise the prices here in the U.S. Believe it or not, these high tariffs are even affecting small businesses. How? Well, in order to run an effective small business such as custom clothes, accessories, and products the owner of the small business will need to find themselves a supplier. This will cause a supply chain disruption because most suppliers are Chinese based. These tariffs will also create one sided competition. Lets say you ran a small business of custommugs but the tariffs are costing you more money for ordering from your supplier, you will become very limited on your quantity, lowering sales. Someone in Russia could have a very similar business to you but have a more successful sales rate since suppliers would become very affordable. Who wins in sales, the Russian company.
Although the tariffs are hurting our feelings about the price raise, this limit can actually benefit a slow process of protest supporting the child labor that happens all in China. With the tarrifs being placed, Chinese products will be in lower demand, meaning that the labor that goes on for companies such as SHEIN and Apple where people make at maximum 24$ a year, the lowered rate will hopefully slow the work down and lose supporters of the Chinese labor industry. This labor and slavery is a big deal, as Apple factories are even having to put nets around the building so their burnt-out slaves don’t commit suicide. That’s how miserable slavery is.
Afterall, Tariffs may seem helpful when portrayed in the news but they in reality cause a lot of problems with minimal benefits.
