School, specifically high school, takes up 274 days every year. Split between two years, and kicks us out in the summer. Though the school offers many different types of events, they end up getting smashed together with one to two months in between. Some pep-rallies are split by weeks, some are months and months apart. But during those months, what is happening in school? If you said nothing, then you are certainly correct. In the 274 days that we are stuck in the school building expanding our knowledge on certain topics, we are repeating more than 265 of them, leaving only so many days for some sort of excitement during the school year. Of course, being a senior is different from the other three years, and they do have exceedingly more events throughout the year than the rest of the school does, but I do feel like us under-classmen should be able to receive more events to spice up our year and have more things to look forward to. We are constantly doing the same routine every single day, and I think that adding more events to the school year for under and upperclassmen might be the right move to spice up the school year a little bit more.
First off, everyone always complains about how boring the school is and how they could be easily spending their time doing something else that they actually enjoy doing. So, adding more events throughout the school year could possibly change the students’ perspective about school, and possibly bring more participation from the student body and maybe even the school as a whole.
Second, there are so many opportunities throughout the day to include some fun activities for the students, and who said the event had to be long or in the middle of a class period. It could be as quick and simple as having people cheer and wave at the doors, or the school giving out donuts or specialized food throughout the week. It doesn’t have to interrupt a period, it could be during run time or even during lunch if needed.
Lastly, everyone is always looking forward to the fun events throughout the school year, and if we include more than we could open up more doors for clubs or even classes that pertain to the topic of event planning, party organizations, and all of those careers that align with planning.
School is always filled with “I don’t want to be here” and “I could still be sleeping” and some people just fall asleep in class, because they don’t care. Their interest drained from first semester and they aren’t trying as hard because there is really nothing to look forward to. For example, my friend Casey said that she is burnt out now. She states that during first semester she was trying really hard to keep her grades up and be on top of her game because she couldn’t go to football games if she wasn’t passing. Also, during the first semester, a lot of students were participating in sports, so academics were high because if she didn’t pass they couldn’t play. Now, barely anyone is playing sports, and the people who are playing sports are way too far and a lot of people can’t go.
Second, these events could be stress relievers especially since the second semester is filled with the most important tests that anyone could take in their entire high school career, these could be a great way for the students to distract themselves from the stressful environment of testing. Also, most of these events will be optional so it would not interfere with their twenty minutes of catching up on work.
Lastly, instead of putting more work to the teachers and administrators and more stress on them to make more events, the school could make this an opportunity to create more clubs and classes for students who are interested in party planning and other topics in that area. This could be taken as an opportunity to pull in more students for extracurricular clubs and more participation in the school as a whole. This could be a great advantage to the school because this club could raise more money than most because they are giving what the students want and students would probably pay for most of the events.
Some students would be greedy and it would be taken away before it could actually do good within the school, yea but there could be restrictions to help like I.D.s and trust cards, and the people running it could be always on their toes and making sure the people ruining the fun will be dealt with.
So again, I personally think that having more fun events during the semesters, especially second semester.
I think what we could do is use the trust card to our advantage and have the people who have their trust cards be able to attend these events, and make it optional to everyone.
