background:Speak no evil is a 2024 horror movie that’s one hour and fifty minutes, that is about a dream holiday that turns into a nightmare when an american couple and their daughter spend the weekend at a british idyllic country estate.it was directed by james watkins and it made 78.8 million dollars in the box office.

Plot: The movie starts off with an american family vacationing in italy, the dads name is ben, the moms name is louise and the daughters name is agnes. While on vacation the british man ask the dad if he could borrow one of his sunbeds at the pool, ben said yes which showed the first sign of him being a weak people pleaser.but regardless the american family becomes friends with the british dad named paddy, his wife ciara and their son Ant who doesn’t speak.a couple weeks later after the vacation ends the american family gets a letter from the british family inviting them to visit their isolated home in the countryside for the weekend and they go because they want their kids to be friends. 

At first paddy and his wife are very welcoming but then they start acting really weird. Such as peer pressuring Louise to eat meat despite her saying she’s a vegetarian, paddy asserting himself as the alpha male and even makes moves on Ben’s wife Louise as well as paddy and ciara being straight up mean to their son. One night the british family decides to peer pressure the american family into going out to dinner without their kids and just have some random babysitter babysit their kids who starts doing magic tricks for them.while the adults are having dinner ant tries to tell agnes something by going into his parents room and looking at his dads watch. Pointing out a name that doesn’t seem to match up with his dads name, but Agnes doesn’t pick up on it because Ant can’t speak.

meanwhile at dinner paddy and his wife are still acting really weird by doing a bunch of very weird stuff and this leads to ben and louise to be really uncomfortable.that night the american couple louise and ben go back home to sleep but when louise wakes up and realizes her daughter agnes isn’t in the room she is horrified to see that agnes has fallen asleep in the same bed as paddy and ciara that they took her in with them. The next morning Louise puts her foot down and says that enough while her husband is still kind of acting not like an alpha male.but right as the family finally leaves and starts driving home they are forced to turn back because their daughter Agnes left her stuffed bunny there and she really needs it back.

 But when they get back paddy and ciara gaslight them into staying longer. The american family tolerates their shenanigans a bit longer until they have their kids to do a dance together and are horrified to see paddy harshly criticize and hurt his son just because ant couldn’t stay on beat. Be and louise decide to stick up for ant saying that they’re being very cruel to their son.ant also opens his mouth to show him that his tongue has been cut off and that’s why he cant talk.now ant had secretly stolen a set of keys from his dad so while the parents are distracted and talking he signals for agnes to follow him to the shed

.he unlocks it revealing an eerie room of random peoples stuff and a whole bunch of photos of random people standing with his parents, but after showing more photos ant reveals that paddy and ciara are not his real parents but instead serial killers who lure families to their house to rob them and kill them then keep their kids in and use that child to pretend that it’s their own to lure in the next family while cutting the kids tongue so they can’t reveal their secret.

He then shows Agnes a photo of her family and his fake parents revealing that they are next in the lineup of victims. After leaving the shed, agnes fakes her period to her mom so she can get her parents alone away from the british family and then explains the situation to them while locked in a bathroom and they fully believe her.so they come up with a plan to leave the house without looking suspicious of them knowing anything they’re not supposed to know. But before they are able to leave and call the police to save ant, they realize that paddy had already slashed their tires and hidden the stuffed bunny to delay them. 

But the American family realizes it’s now or never so they try to leave but as they are leaving. They see paddy throw ant into the water as a last resort to get them to stay and ant cannot swim so ben quickly turned around to rescue ant. Paddy and ciara then capture the whole family and hold them hostage in a room with a weapon and force them to transfer their whole savings before they are killed and they cut agnes tongue. But they put up a fight and manage to injure paddy as well of them including ant run into the house.paddy and ciara call up their accomplice named mike to help capture the family again but louise manages to kill mike and save ben before their family flees to the roof for safety.

Ciara tries to attack them on the roof but she falls and she dies. Right as the american family tries to escape with ant, paddy catches them and holds agnes hostage with a weapon then agnes injects a liquid into paddy causing him to collapse as the family is finally free to leave safely with ant.ben walks right past paddy and decides not to kill paddy but instead ant has other plans and kills paddy with a brick as the family finally drives away from the house with ant, agnes hands her stuffed bunny to him as he sobs quietly in the back seat.THE END

My review: I thought it was really good. It was at first slow but then got really good. All the actors did such a good job at acting their performances were so amazing. It was kind of predictable but other than that really good another thing that I disliked was the characters’ decisions in the movie. For example why in the world did they go back for the bunny. I know it was for the daughter but still, that was one of the dumbest things ever. If that was me I would’ve left no matter how much my daughter begged me to go back for the bunny. If i was the dad i would just go to the nearest store and get her a new one but i digress. Other than that i thought this movie was pretty good and worth a watch.
