There are lots of clubs and extracurricular activities at Sachse, but a majority of them go unnoticed due to the lack of recognition they get. Some people might be interested in a certain extracurricular but they might not know that we have a club dedicated to it. Here we can raise the amount of recognition that these clubs receive.
Art Club is definitely one of the clubs that I would recommend looking into. It is a usually calm, fun environment to be in, the people are friendly, and the teacher (Mrs. Iturrino in Room 188) is very welcoming to people interested in the club. There is also an Anime Club for those who are interested in that sort of thing. They discuss, watch, and share different kinds of anime within the club. (Room 167.)
Another club that some students might be interested in is Spanish Club, a club for those that want to learn more about the language and the culture behind it. They participate in different activities and can celebrate Hispanic holidays and traditions collectively. (Room 222.) If you take interest in ASL, American Sign Language, there is also a club for that. In the ASL Club, there are discussions and activities that help students learn and engage with the deaf community. It is a good, unique experience for students and can help them improve their ASL skills.
For more interactive clubs, there is the Card and Board Game Club that is welcome to all (in the library). It is for students that want to have an enjoyable time with their friends and others while playing all kinds of card and board games. It’s a good opportunity to hang out with friends and interact with new people. Chess Club is also available to students (in Room 276 or 256 Computer Lab) if they want to practice chess and their strategies with both non-competitive and competitive options.
Student Council is another extracurricular activity that encourages students to help out and participate in new activities and be a part of something productive. Meetings are in the library and some activities that Student Council helps in are Homecoming, can food drives, service projects, and much more. Getting involved in Student Council is a good way to get out of your comfort zone and do new things with others.
These are just some of the intriguing clubs and extracurricular activities that you can participate in at Sachse. There are so many more options and possibilities that you can view on Sachse High School’s official website. It might be a fun experience to try something new and join one or more of these activities.
