Since testing season it’s on its way,I thought I would share some of my best advice for upcoming testing and how to study and be the most stress-free you can be.
Studying is very important, especially when it comes to upcoming exams. Whether it’s finals, SAT ,or STAAR,studying is very important. I know studying can sometimes be a challenge but once you find out what works for you, such as kahoots or doodle notes, you will be able to conquer these tests applying the studying techniques that work best for you.
My personal favorite method is to make a kahoot or blooket based off topics needed for review. This method is my favorite because it helps me memorize the correct answers to possible or similar questions on a test, making my pass rate for test after using this method pretty high. Another thing that could potentially go in this category is making games associated with your topic. I think this is a great technique because it helps with memorization of material. Since you’re remembering the right answers ,you’re also studying correct material to engrave in your mind pre testing season.
A method that is a great way to study is by making doodle notes. Go through your basic class notes and rewrite them by adding your own drawings that represent a question/note. This is an effective way to study because especially those who are visual learners, making studying more fun by adding drawings can help you engage more in your studying. This works alot for me because I think using different colors to draw really help my mind remember the information.
Another technique that has helped me alot, especially with foreign language classes, is recording yourself saying the notes and listening to it like a podcast. This is a great way to incorporate studying into almost every daily task. You can listen to this recording while cooking, showering , or getting ready for school to really make sure that information is in your head.
For math subjects, the most common way for studying is via flashcards and working out problems on a basic level. A way to make this more fun and effective would be to also incorporate math as a game. In this case you can use AI but in a good way, let me explain. You can tell AI what area you’re studying mathematically and ask it to give you equations or problems based off of that area. Time yourself for each problem and give yourself a set “goal” time. For example, give yourself a minute to solve a problem. Once you’re done with all the set problems ask the AI to give you the answer key. This is a great way to incorporate AI to study without using it in a cheating way.
A way my 8th grade computer teacher taught us how to study that is really effective, is throwing everything you know on a sheet of paper- just letting the material flow out of your brain. You can slowly add by using class notes and papers once you’re done and keep repeating the “brain throwout” until you feel your mind is stored with enough information about your targeted topic.
Putting these studying techniques into your school routine can be a great addition to just basic highlighting and read over studying methods. These methods add a little more engagement helping your brain really put these topics to use while remembering them.
