Since it is the last cycle of school, I thought it would be fitting to write an article for, specifically, the freshmen! From Summer jobs, to the best places to hang out with friends, this article will tell you everything you need to know in order to have the most unforgettable summer you’ve ever had!
I am a sophomore this year, and as a freshman, I probably did more than some of this year’s graduating class during the summer of my freshman year.. No, not in an illegal way. I mean that I was extremely productive over the summer, and made the most of all of my time.
For example, I got my first job last summer. And from what you hear from adults and people who work full time, you’re probably assuming that having a job made my summer boring and kept me from my friends, but in my experience it was the contrary. The job that I got, I was lucky enough to be able to choose my own schedule, and my coworkers were extremely kind and fun to be around! So I had loads of fun at work, and made money for it! If anyone wants tips on how to get a summer job, I would gladly write a short article on the essential things to know when applying!
Since I got a summer job, I had a lot of money to hang out with my friends all of the time. However, not all fun things require you to have money. For example, my friends and I would often just go to each other’s houses and enjoy each other’s company. I also loved to swim all of the time with my friends and family.
Some more advice I would give to freshmen is: GET YOUR PERMIT!! I didn’t get my permit freshman year, and I regret it all the time. I cannot express it enough, GET IT! I know taking the classes (if that’s what you do), or practicing driving can be boring and even stressful if your parents are yelling at you, but it will all be worth it when you can get your license your sophomore year.
Lastly, and most importantly (in my opinion), I would say to go out of your comfort zone. Meet new people, try new things! Over the summer I made new friends, and tried so many new things. You do not have to be in school to meet new people and have fun with your friends!
That’s all the advice that I have for y’all, I hope this helps someone, or gives you some ideas for what to do this summer!
