From the beginning of time, humans have always wanted to feel positive emotions throughout their lives. A child’s ability to see the best in everything is the best example. The movie “The Florida Project” is about childhood, poverty, innocence, and imagination. You are about to learn about how one movie can be the most nostalgic part of your day.
The Florida Project is a drama film that follows a six-year-old girl named Moone and her mother, Halley, as they try to live their lives to the fullest. Although they have very difficult circumstances, they try to find happiness. Moone has been seeing things from a different perspective since she was six years old, she lives in a neighborhood tinted with magic. During the movie, Moone has a couple of friends, Jancey and Scooty. The three friends go on summertime adventures of their fantasies while Halley is unemployed and trying to make the best childhood for Moone on a budget.
Little kids can find beauty and excitement anywhere, and make any setting their playground. It is fun to be reminded how happy the littlest things could make us feel when we were younger. In one scene Moone and Scooty are playing under the stairs of the motel. They make most of their imagination while Halley and Scooty’s mothers are about to get into a serious argument. Moone also has an eye for trouble. She gets into her little schemes much like her mom. Moone doesn’t see the wrong of it though, she’s just finding the positive side.
“But I feel bad for her, she’s about to cry. I can always tell when adults are about to cry.” -Moone. This line is so simple yet so powerful. Moone, like many six-year-olds, reminds us that children understand a lot more than we think. She senses sorrow. She may be young, but she understands the dangers of the world. She still focuses on the wonderful things in the world as well.
At the end of the film, Moone is about to get taken away by CPS. She runs away to her best friend Jancey’s house and cries while telling her she doesn’t know if she’s ever gonna see her again. The movie shows the two young souls running away to Disney World where their imaginations would stay pure at the most magical place on earth. It is thought to believe that this is all Moone’s imagination in the end, but in reality, she gets taken away. This shows that a child’s sense of wonder is a magical thing and could brighten the world.
