Bowling team remains undefeated
March 5, 2021
The bowling team is off to a great start this season. So far they are undefeated, and according to senior co-captain Hailey Spencer, they are hoping to make it to state.
The bowling team’s toughest match was against Rowlett High School, but according to senior Captain Dylan Pittsinger they pulled through as a team and were able to beat them.
“I would say that this was one of the closest matches of my four years on the team,” Pittsinger said.
What started as a family activity has led several members of the bowling team to bowl competitively. Spencer’s whole family bowls, and she said she loves the sport.
Spencer plans to continue in college. She accepted a scholarship to bowl competitively at Adelphi University in New York.
“I joined the bowling team because it seemed like a really fun and good opportunity to do something I love while also getting involved at the school,” Spencer said.
Pittsinger has been bowling for 16 years and will continue to bowl competitively through college. One thing Pittsinger wants everyone to know is that bowling is a sport.
“My view is, if something is featured and live on CBS sports or Fox Sports One then it’s a sport, and I dream of the day I get to bowl on live TV,” Pittsinger said.
While the coronavirus hasn’t forced the bowling team to quarantine, there are still protocols in place to make sure that the team is staying safe.
“We have to practice social distancing by waiting for the bowler on the opposite team to step off the lane before one of us can go up for our turn,” Pittsinger said. ”We also have to wear our masks the whole time unless we are up to bowl.”
The bowling team’s last game was against Poteet and ended in a landslide of 14-1.
The bowling team’s next match will be March 6 at 12:30 p.m. against Mesquite Poteet High School at AMF Garland Lanes.
