Beta club collects toys for Sachse PD

Beta Club is collecting new, unwrapped toys to give to needy families for the holidays. The toy drive started Dec. 2 and will end Dec. 12.

Collected items will be given to the Sachse Police Department Chaplaincy Toy Drive.

“The Sachse Police Department set up a mini-store for needy families to go and get toys for their children,“ Beta Club Sponsor Tammy Liehr said.

The toys are for children who live in the Sachse, Garland, Rowlett, other DFW areas, and local hospitals. To donate, students should bring toys or monetary donations to their A3 teachers.

“We will be collecting toys as well as money donations,“ Liehr said. “With that money, the Police Department can buy toys like bikes, skateboards, etc., and add them to their mini store.“

Beta Club has collected toys for the past 15 years.

“We hope to get as many toys as possible and beat our number from last year, so kids can be happy during the holidays,“ Liehr said. “Last year we gathered around 300 toys and about $1,000 to give to the families in need.“
