The season ended on a high note as all division girls and boys varsity and JV took home winning titles from the district meet on Oct. 17, which qualified the varsity teams for regionals in Dallas.

“There was a lot of hard work put in every day,” coach Kristen Campbell said, ”so I was confident we would win. We just had to show up and do our best.”

Varsity girls continued their reign as district champions for the third year in a row. They received medals for placing in the top 10 out of 54 runners. Freshman Anna Eischen placed second breaking the school record with a time of 19:49. Sophomore Courtney Rawlings placed fourth; senior Abbie Cisnero placed sixth; sophomore Gracia Leonard placed seventh; and sophomore Madison Ramirez took ninth place.

“I just got to hold this place, and I held it for a whole mile,” Cisnero said. ”I knew we were going to win during the race because of our placing. All we had to do was hold out.”

Eischen started an impressive high school career by breaking the previous girls’ cross country school record of 19:51.

“The hard work was worth the reward,” Eischen said. “I didn’t think I would get that fast of a time.”

The Junior Varsity team ended the season with the girls taking home the District Champions and the boys with runner-up.

“I was just trying to stay in front of Rebecca (Demmelash),” freshman Gracie Fagg said. “I got an opportunity, and I took it.”

Fagg placed first; senior Rebecca Demmelash placed second; sophomore Nia Chacon third; freshman Greta Johnson placed seventh; junior Aylann Mosley took ninth; sophomore Anna Parr finished in 15th place.

For the boys JV team, senior Christopher Goodwin placed 12th out of 88 runners.
